Crowns, Corgis and Craft – A Right Royal Knees Up in At-Bristol!
Thu 24 May 2012
The Jubilee celebrations on Sunday 3 June in At-Bristol are fit for any Queen, with lots of Make-Your-Own activities, a Big Lunch and our very own ‘Royal’ flotilla – and there’s even free entry all day to the science centre for any Elizabeths!
Visitors will be able to make their own crown, build a boat which can then be floated in the water features, making a beautiful flotilla to rival the Royal one taking place on the Thames and being shown live on the Big Screen, have their faces painted and also make their own corgi – no Jubilee celebrations will be complete without one!
Katie Dent, who’s leading on the Jubilee celebrations in At-Bristol, said: “It’s going to be a lot of fun with all the activities we’ve got taking place in At-Bristol on the 3rd June, there’s definitely going to be a royal atmosphere here! We’ve also teamed up with the City Council who are hosting a Big Lunch in Millennium Square so there’s no excuse to be anywhere else to celebrate!”
Louise Baker, from Bristol City Council, said: “The Big Diamond Jubilee Lunch in Millennium Square is going to be one of the biggest street parties in the city and to add to the celebrations, the live festivities from London will be shown on the Big Screen including Bristol’s very own ships The Matthew and the Pyronaut in the 1000-boat tribute to the Queen’s 60-year reign. So bring your picnic down and join in the fun, it’s not often we get to celebrate such an historic milestone.”
Also taking place in At-Bristol over the Jubilee weekend is the Summer Night Sky Planetarium show the under 5s Little Stars show, the family-fun Glow Show, new Live Lab activities and Storytelling so don’t forget if your name’s Elizabeth (or a derivative of) then you get in free!
Tickets are available via At-Bristol’s booking line: 0845 345 1235 (9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday excluding Bank Holidays), or from the At-Bristol Front Desk any day, 10am – 5pm. Please note that photo ID is necessary to take advantage of the ‘Elizabeths go free’ offer.
