Shopping for Science?
16 May 2007.
Explore-At-Bristol is taking science to the streets! Shoppers
visiting Broadmead on Sunday 20 May will receive an extra boost to their
retail therapy as Explore hits the streets with quirky science
experiments.
It will be a rare treat for shoppers as they get a sneak peek at Explore’s
latest family feature The Really Wet Show, which is all about one
of Earth’s most amazing and important substances - water!
Sunday’s outreach activity further demonstrates the science centre’s
ongoing commitment to making science accessible to all. It is also part of
Explore’s upcoming public event The Really Wet Weekend, which will
be a fun-filled start to the half term holidays from 26 May. Climb aboard
a raft of swirling, gushing activities all about water, with shows,
workshops and demonstrations for the whole family!
See water made before your eyes and then disappear again in The Really
Wet Show, an immersive torrent of fun, interactive demonstrations
supported by Bristol Water. Or perhaps the Explore Regatta will float your
boat! Join in the boat-building workshops within Explore and make yourself
an ocean liner, yacht or dinghy from a fantastic variety of scrap and
recycled materials. Who will design the fastest vessel? After the workshop
we’ll head outside with your creations to race them along Millennium
Strait, the pond beside Explore’s Planetarium.
If you’re still dry behind the ears, look out for the Live Science team in
Explore who will amaze you with the 2p challenge and a shower of other
experiments exploring the peculiar properties of the wet stuff.
Kids are also welcome to have a go at the free Hook a Duck game in
Millennium Square’s water features – where you could win one of several
prizes, including tickets to Explore. There are even a couple of annual
Family Memberships up for grabs!
All Really Wet Weekend activities are free with a ticket to Explore.
