Precision Engineer

12 months contract
Up to £25,000 per annum, depending on experience


Our Exhibitions team develops and delivers world-class interactive exhibitions. As part of our team you will be responsible for the development, redevelopment and construction of mechanical assemblies that will be used in interactive exhibits. You will work closely with the team, particularly the design engineers, to develop and fabricate mechanical elements into the exhibits. In addition you will assist in the delivery of a comprehensive programme of preventative and reactive maintenance for all our exhibitions.
HNC/D or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering is essential (applicants with an industrial background will be considered)

Skills

  • Must be skilled in the operation of manual machine tools, hand tools and bench fitting

  • Must be able to interpret and work from formal drawing, informal sketches or work from verbal instuctions.

  • Advanced CAD/CAM.

  • Knowledge of relevant Healath and Safety regulations and record keeping.

  • Must be IT literate including Microsoft Office, CAD (Solidworks) and CAM (Edgecam).

Front of House Assistant

Working 5 days out of 7 (willingness to work weekends essential)
£6.27 per hour


As the welcoming face of At-Bristol enhancing the visitor experience within our attractions, our front of house staff are renowned for their cheerful disposition and courteous customer care, inspiring our visitors to explore, interact and have fun learning with our exhibits.

You will need some prior experience of working in a customer facing role, ideally in a tourist attraction, be adaptable, at ease dealing with the public, IT literate and able to work on your own initiative.

Duties include meeting and greeting visitors – from individuals to small and large groups, enabling them to get the best out of each and every visit. You will also work in the Explore shop, handling cash and ensuring areas are stocked and tidy.

Able to think on your feet you enjoy problem solving, have the confidence to deal with customer complaints and remain calm under pressure.

A Criminal Records Bureau check will be required as part of our child protection policy.

2 x Live Science Team Member (Ref LST)

£7.00 per hour
Part Time with possibility of Full Time
1 permanent position/1 temporary position for 4 months


This is an exciting opportunity to join our energetic team of science communicators and facilitators which encourages visitor engagement with Explore’s exhibits and relevant science. Assisting visitor interaction within Explore’s exhibition spaces, you will bring At-Bristol's galleries and open spaces to life by delivering a range of programmes such as planetarium shows, science shows, busking, gallery characters, and hands-on activities to promote and enhance the visitor experience.

A confident and enthusiastic personality, you will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and converse with all our visitors. Previous experience in leisure or educational environment is desirable and an interest in science, nature and art is essential.
