Brain Games - Dundee

The heat was really on for 32 students from a local Dundee school taking part this, our first trial of a three day brain games which took place 23rd – 25th October 2002. The whole primary 7 class, their teacher and class room assistant jumped at the challenge and produced some amazing games that used what they had learned about the brain and their senses through the Brain Games activities and the exhibits at Sensation Science Centre.

The project was run in partnership with the education team at Sensation, with mentors from Sensation and At-Bristol. Local games advisors from the School of Computing and Advanced Technologies at the University of Abertay Dundee, were on hand to give expert advice about games design.

Our panel of Judges to take on the challenge of identifying the top Brain game consisted of Lucy Joyner from ICCAVE, John Duthie of Vs Entertainments and Ralph Harrison from Scottish Enterprise Tayside.

The star prize for the project went to the team ‘The Brains’ for their game ‘Golden Challenge’ which incorporated all of the teams ideas, strong research, was well prepared and marketed well to the judges. This board game is a game of skill involving challenging tasks and luck.
