PuzzleMania!
A wizard world of numbers
|
In Explore until 14 September 2005.
Free with a ticket to Explore-At-Bristol.
Get even more hands-on fun in Explore with PuzzleMania! a special
exhibition that will bamboozle your brain cells! From giant board
games to cryptic challenges and mysterious mind teasers, there’s a
whole host of interactive activities that reveal the wizard world of
numbers.
Set in a colourful house, PuzzleMania! is split into three rooms all
bursting with brain bending exhibits that explore how much we use
maths in our everyday lives. From following recipes, to tying knots
and planning a journey, there are calculations involved in pretty
much everything. So if you’re game for some brain bending fun, make
yourself at home and see if you can crack all the games and gizmos!
In the Kitchen there’s some tricky tiling and puzzling patterns to
solve. Discover the art of tessellating and get inspired to make
some patterns of your own. Moving to the garage, you’ll need to be
armed with plenty of detective tools. See if you can find the best
route for the travelling salesman and try and work out the mysteries
of mapping. There are also some nasty knots to detangle and a car
boot that needs packing with luggage - a task requiring plenty of
logical loading! |
 |
But the brain-bending fun doesn’t end there. In the heart of the
house is the family room filled with games galore. Be a pawn on a
gigantic money board game and challenge your friends in a race to
make it rich. With 3D noughts and crosses, speed chess, reflective
jigsaws and a huge soma cube to crack, there’s no excuse to be
bored. And if your solving skills are still not sated then why not
take on the final "door tour" challenge. Can you find a route
through the house that passes through each door only once?
