Public workshops and shows

Stirring stuff activities were available for visitors to At-Bristol during specific weekends and holidays.

SuperSlime

A workshop for everyone who loves things that ooze! Participants met slime that oozes, slime that squelches and slime that glows in the dark, then made their own sticky stuff to take home.

Inflatabubble

Do you love blowing bubbles? We do! This workshop amazed and delighted with all sorts of bubbles - giant bubbles, coloured bubbles, and bubbles that disappeared in a mysterious fog. We took a look at the science behind bubble behaviour, and found out how bubbles are used in the natural world.

DNA for dinner

2003 was the 50th anniversary of the discovery of the structure of DNA. As part of At-Bristol's celebrations, this exciting hands-on workshop gave people the chance to meet this amazing molecule face to face, finding out whether they ate DNA for dinner and discovering how similar we are to chimpanzees.

Duration: 1 hour

Ready, sweaty, GO!

We learned how our bodies react during sport; exploring how your muscles function, examining the role of the heart and lungs and finding out how top athletes train their bodies. Hearts were pumping and pulses were racing by the end of this fun and active workshop.

Hearts, farts and body parts

We discovered amazing facts about our bodies. Why do armpits smell? What's the point of earwax? How fast does you heart beat? Would you have had the stomach for this workshop?

Marvellous microbes

They're tiny! They're multiplying! They're everywhere... and they came to a Wildwalk near you! We met the goodies and the baddies of the marvellous microbe world - the oozers and the boozers, the medics and Martians, the stinkies and the downright nasties. Everyone shrank down to join them all in this lively, interactive show for all the family.

The really sweaty show

This silly, sporty and slightly sweaty show was an interactive exploration of our sporting bodies – sweaty armpits were optional!

The forensics show

This fun show for all the family delved into the murky world of crime, uncovering how detectives past and present have used forensic science to hunt down villains and solve the trickiest of crimes.
